Today we deployed a quick update to the Donor Perfect integration that impacts the way we determine a matching record. Initially we determined a match by looking at many characteristics of a record, eg first name, last name, street address, phone, email. This was causing a lot of false positives, so we’ve changed our approach to only looking at email.
Going forward, when a donation is processed on an account where Donor Perfect is enabled, our system will first check to see if a Donor Perfect ID is present on the Hopsie donor, if it is we’ll reference the donor through that idea and create the gift. In the case that the donor is new to Hopsie, or does not have a Donor Perfect ID we’ll execute a search of the Donor Perfect database for a donor with the same email. If a donor is found with a matching email we’ll update the Donor Perfect ID and associate the new gift with that donor, if not we’ll create a new on.
